Aloha Ohana, Its time for a little story...

Once upon a time, in a land far, far away, the Secret Hollow Mountain Base was born. It all started on Facebook on December 24, 2010, before Mr Announcer Man and I even knew we were meant to be. We met through a common friend's Facebook post, and started chatting on Messenger.

Our conversations were all over the place, so Mr Announcer Man created a top-secret page for us to chat, and I made a kitschy sign for it. We soon realized that we liked each other and decided to meet up at Disney World. Our adventure went so well that we ended engaged before parting ways. We eventually got married and hung the Secret Hollow Mountain Base sign in our apartment.

So, for our first anniversary, I went all out and made a Smash Journal of our life together. You know, because a regular photo album is just too mainstream. And of course, I had to include our superhero alter egos in the header. {Don't Give our Secret Identities Away}  It was a cute and heartfelt way to celebrate our love and all the crazy fun we've had together.

This is the video from post that was shared by our friend Martin Kennedy. He and Steve Kilbey were about to release a new album, and this was the first single. We literally met under the Facebook post in the comment section.

The Birth Of The Purple Tiki

It turns out our old apartment was a breeding ground for all sorts of mold. Who knew? I ended up getting so sick that I practically lived in a state of anaphylaxis. So, we packed up our bags and moved to Wisconsin, closer to family and The Mayo Clinic. We managed to save some of our stuff, but let's be real, most of it was wasted. But hey, we made the best of it and turned new basement into Our Secret Hollow Mountain Base! It's got everything from my Art Studio to The Purple Tiki Lounge, and even a Dance Floor (which doubles as our Physical Therapy room). Oh, and did I mention we turned a little freezer into an ice cream truck? Yeah, we're pretty cool like that. (or geeky, I am not sure.)

You enter the Secret Hollow Mountain Base through our Art Gallery. It is full of art that our friends made for us. When you reach the base of the stairs, you will see The Tiki Lounge Sign, and our mermaid will greet you.

The moment you step into the lounge you'll be welcomed by the one and only legendary DJ PJ or DJ Lava Lamp (also known as DJ Tea & Mr Announcer Man). Their electrifying mix of surf, tiki, and 80's alternative music will keep you dancing all night long. So, put on your dancing shoes and get ready to have the time of your life!

Step right up and behold the wonder that is our Tiki lounge! Feast your eyes on the eclectic collection of random kitschy artifacts, Tiki mugs, Tikis, and souvenirs from Hawaii. And let's not forget the ambient lighting that sets the mood for a truly experience.

We built the bar during the COVID lockdown so we would have a fun place to hang out. Before it became The Purple Tiki, it was The Purple Lounge, in honor of my baby brother, whom we lost in 2016, right after we went through the move.

I was an Amazon Vine Influencer, so many of the items are things we received to test.

The Purple Tiki Lounge slowly took over The Purple Lounge. We started with a collection of Tikis and other vintage artifacts from my grandparents' Rumpus Room, as well as random things my parents brought back from Hawaii. I have always had a thing for Midcentury Decor and Tiki Lounges, so it seemed like the perfect fit. The fireplace gives off cozy vibes during Wisconsin winters.

During your visit, it is customary to wear some cheap leis! We have them hanging everywhere, so pick what you like!

Welcome to the jungle, baby! Between the lounge and the dance floor lies a little oasis of greenery, complete with cozy nooks to rest and sip on a delicious beverage. And the best part? Every drink comes with its own fancy paper umbrella!

Ahoy there, matey! During the Aloha Holidays, we've got a groovy purple tinsel tree that's up for so long, it might as well be a permanent fixture! As you make your way to the dance floor, you'll spot our menu board with the mysterious Purple Tiki. That's where we spill the tea on today's entertainment and any drink specials. And if you're feeling peckish, we've got menus with all sorts of drinks, dinner items, and nibbles. The dance floor is where the party's at, with a sound system that'll make you wanna shake your booty and lights that'll make you feel like a disco diva. Plus, the floor is covered in a fluffy shag carpet, and there's a giant bean bag chair to chillax in if you need a break from all the boogying.

Hey there, party people! If you're looking for a break from dance floor, we've got just the spot for you. Check out our teepee play area, complete with fairy garden.

It's Between the dance floor and the garden room, under the shady rainbow eucalyptus tree.  It's like an oasis, but with more fun and less sand."

Wow! You won't believe what the Disco Ball collection can do with lights! It's absolutely mesmerizing to watch the stunning colors and lights play off of them. Get ready to be amazed!

We close The Lounge when we are busy recording our weekly radio show.

But when we aren't recording, the sound garden studio is open with additional seating. Please keep all drinks on the Patio Table, under the umbrella, we don't want to create a new water feature.

And if you're feeling bored, we've got board games, puzzles, sensory toys, photo booth props, and other fun stuff to keep you entertained.

The cabinet is full of countless family photo albums and enough happy memories to make even the grumpiest grandpas crack a smile. And hey, did you know that the Tin Man is from Kansas? Yeah, I know, it's hard to believe, but trust me, Kansas, it's not that bad.

The umbrella offers some shaded seating at the bistro table. Please note that unless you are a unicorn, you can't park there. Also, use caution; some fairies and gnomes inhabit the enchanted sound garden studio.

A Purple Tiki Video Tour!

Join us for a tour filled with surprises! Just like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're going get. As time by, you'll notice some changes, but rest assured, we're always updating. It's like a never-ending game of 'Where's Waldo?' but with Tiki Lounge improvements. So, come along and let's Explore! We have made some major changes since this video was last updated.

The Purple Tiki Lounge Page

I created this page to link to an event poster I made for a class project. The event was called 'Aloholidays.' Although I didn't need to make a webpage, I thought giving a link somewhere to go in case someone scanned the code would be fun. It was a rush job, but we kept it around even after the holidays. We plan to make some changes to it and keep it as a fun little project, but this time, we'll make it more dedicated to our beloved Tiki Lounge.

ThePurpleTiki.com was the original host URL for our show, and we thought it would be a fun Easter Egg to keep it around.

The lifestyle blog is in the works but will be under The "a-grateful-life" URL. We used to have another website to cover glute-free events and share recipes and tips, but then I lost my baby brother and my service dog, Zeus. COVID-19 happened, and we lost Dr Duffe. She was the Doctor that I used to create wellness classes with, and we shared an office. She was a close friend. It was hard to go on. I decided to put health coaching and our blog on the back burner. However, I have since been inspired to bring the Lifestyle Blog back.

Behold! Feast your eyes on the that is my event poster for the assignment. I thought it looked like an exciting event, it might just make you forget about all your other problems...at least for a little while.  This would be a fun dream event, if only I could get the bands to play.

thank you for visiting!

We hope you enjoyed the Tour and Backstory. We appreciate you more than a bunny loves carrots. Here's to a delightful day filled with peace, love, and cosmic bunny rabbits!
