The Velvet Haze Radio {It's A Vibe}

Updated: May 2

The Velvet Haze Radio {It's A Vibe}

Thank you for floating into the ether with us today. You’re tuned into The Velvet Haze Radio, and as the name suggests… it’s a vibe.

This episode of Eclectic Wonderland took a turn into The Velvet Haze—a dreamy, genre-blurring musical fog full of haunting beauty, pulsing beats, and ethereal vocals. I didn’t plan this one in the usual way. The songs just showed up like ghosts in a mirror, telling their own story.

This Show is A dreamy, moody, and atmospheric mix designed to dissolve the edges of your day. This episode floats through lo-fi landscapes, faerie soirées, and velvet-toned nostalgia. It’s not just a playlist—it’s a vibe.

From AURORA and Kate Bush to Portishead, Beach House, and Cocteau Twins, the show is a moody, shimmering blend of trip-hop, dream pop, lo-fi, and nostalgic shimmer. It’s the perfect backdrop for journaling, late-night drives, daydreams, or slow mornings wrapped in a blanket with a cup of something warm.

Let me know what track transported you most.

Stay hazy, friends.

—DJ Tea

Tune in, drift out… and slip into the Velvet Haze.

We opened with the Eclectic Wonderland Theme by Gala Violet—a dreamy, lo-fi portal into today’s mood. Thank you to Gala Violet for setting the tone just right.

Show Notes & The full playlist: {Links Are Pink!}

Intro

  • Welcome To The Wonderland-Gala Violet

Our theme song today—a lo-fi lullaby that gently pulls you through the rabbit hole. Thank you, Gala Violet, for helping set the mood.

  • Running With The Wolves-AURORA

Like sprinting barefoot under a moonlit sky. AURORA channels wild freedom and Icelandic mysticism in every note.

  • Pink Moon-AURORA

A haunting cover wrapped in hush.Nick Drake Originally  Released just before his passing, it’s become a quiet anthem of delicate beauty.

  • Endless Sky-Evan Blum & Michelle Raitzin

Dreamy pop with a cinematic scope—like gazing out a window with the whole world softly humming beneath you.

You’re listening to The Velvet Haze—a sonic fog of shimmer, shadows, and synth.

Coming up… a swirl of faeries, dream logic, and haunting electronica where Kate Bush pulls us into The Dreaming, and from there… well, just hold on. Melanie Martinez throws a Faerie Soirée, Molina brings the late-night melancholy, and Massive Attack… well, they’ll always drop you into the emotional deep end. Let the Cocteau Twins blur your edges and Björk remind you what snow sounds like.

Second Set

  • Kate Bush – The Dreaming

This track is like surrealist theater set to sound. Kate’s wildest and most experimental album, and this song? Utter dream chaos.

  • Melanie Martinez – FAERIE SOIRÉE

A magical mischief-filled gathering in the forest. Bring your wings and glitter. The fairies are already dancing.

  • Molina – Hey Kids (feat. Late Verlaine)

This one feels like a neon-lit midnight drive through a misty city where the past and future are blurred.

  • Massive Attack – Teardrop

Iconic. Ether meets heartache. Also the theme to House MD—but way more mysterious on its own.

  • Cocteau Twins – Lorelei

Vocals like swirling clouds—nobody sings in a secret language quite like Elizabeth Fraser.

  • Björk – Frosti

Delicate music-box magic. You can practically see snowflakes melting on your eyelashes.

You’re still in the haze—and isn’t it beautiful? Frosti by Björk. So delicate. So fleeting. Up next, more dream logic and noir pop. Portishead, Hooverphonic, I Monster… the kind of soundscape you sink into like velvet over water. Stay with me.

Third Set

  • Björk – Hidden Place

A love song wrapped in digital textures. This one feels like secrets whispered through glitchy starlight.

  • Portishead – Numb

Raw, noir trip-hop at its best. Like walking alone through a rainy alley in slow motion.

  • Hooverphonic – 2 Wicky

A hypnotic groove that flirts with mystery. Samples Isaac Hayes, dresses it in velvet, and adds a smoky twist.

  • I Monster – Daydream In Blue

Retro-futuristic daydream fuel. That sample you hear? From the 1969 classic “Daydream” by The Gunter Kallmann Choir.

  • Automatic – Skyscraper (GUM & Ginoli Remix)

Post-punk, electro-disco haze—perfect for robot dancing in an art gallery at 2AM.

  • All India Radio – Home

A slow drift across memory and mood. Like returning to a place you’ve never physically been, but remember anyway.

This next wave begins with Au Revoir Simone’s A Violent Yet Flammable World. From there, we slide into Chromatics, Alvvays, Barrie, and Beach House. It’s like walking through a half-remembered memory at midnight.

Fourth Set

  • Au Revoir Simone – A Violent Yet Flammable World

Sweet voices, dark lyrics—this one is a sugar-dusted warning wrapped in synth-pop.

  • Chromatics – Shadow

Minimal. Melancholy. Magnetic. This track was featured in Twin Peaks: The Return, and it still feels like velvet noir.

  • Alvvays – Dreams Tonight

Indie-pop perfection. Nostalgic, shimmery, and maybe just a little heartbroken.

  • Barrie – Clovers

Soft as dusk, this one feels like leaning your head on someone’s shoulder during golden hour.

  • Beach House – Once Twice Melody

Epic and enveloping, like a celestial opera performed from the top of a

lighthouse.

  • Lush – For Love

Shoegaze sweetness with a punch. This one twirls with equal parts sugar and sorrow.

  • All India Radio – Bombay Maffia

Trippy, cinematic, and mysterious. Like spy movie vibes but underwater.

As we start to descend gently from the haze, we’ll stir the waters just a bit with The Smashing Pumpkins and The House of Love. From sleepy gardens to rainy towns, ocean blues, and a lo-fi sunset, this final set is for the dreamers who stay up too late…

Fifth Set

  • The Smashing Pumpkins – Rhinoceros

Early Pumpkins at their dreamiest. Gentle distortion and sweet angst wrapped in one hazy ride.

  • The House of Love – The Girl With The Loneliest Eyes

A swoony, melancholy Britpop gem that’s all about quiet yearning.

  • The Ruby Suns – Sleep In The Garden

Lo-fi tropical indie with layers that shimmer and spill like sunlight through leaves.

  • David J & Time Newman – Raintown

Dark cabaret and rainy noir merge in this under-the-radar beauty from Bauhaus’ David J.

  • The Ocean Blue – Awaking to a Dream

A lush, melodic swirl—just what the title promises. Melancholy and hopeful, all at once.

  • Hex – Monarch (2024 Remaster)

A gothic-dream-pop rarity that flutters like dark velvet wings. One of those songs that finds you.

  • Matthew Simpson-Morgan – To Somewhere Far (feat. Lisa Belles)

Melodic and soothing, this one feels like a travel montage in your favorite indie

film.

  • Tiare Herberg – Blue Orchid

Ethereal vocals bloom over a chillwave beat. A hidden gem that sparkles in headphones.

  • All India Radio – Lo Fi Groovy

Our landing pad. Chill, spacey, and just the right groove to bring us softly back to earth.

Thank you for drifting through The Velvet Haze Radio with Us. We hope it brought you something—a moment, a breath, a color you’d forgotten.

’We hope your day is Delightful!
