Inspired by the same gothic glamor that birthed Masquerade of Shadows, this episode dives into shadowy folk tales, vintage theatrics, and the kind of oddball pageantry that feels like home to those of us with connective tissue quirks and midnight hearts.

🧚‍♀️ What Is a Dark Fairytale?

A dark fairytale whispers truths that Disney won’t touch.

It speaks of the forest after the breadcrumbs are gone…

Of curses hidden in lullabies…

Of monsters that look like men — and sometimes, mirrors.

But in the dark, there is also transformation.

That’s why we go into the woods.

To lose something, and find ourselves.

Walls of wind,

Night has fallen,

Father and son ride together.

On a horse,

They go onward

Through this vast darkness.

But suddenly,

The child trembles,

Clutches tighter to his father:

“Father, can’t you hear them?

There are voices on the wind!”

He answers:

“Don’t be afraid, it’s just the breeze.

The leaves rustling in the trees.”

But the boy cries out again:

“Father, can’t you see them?

They’re reaching out for me—”

He shudders, he weeps…

And then,

The father turns to him.

His arms now empty.

He was too late…

The son is gone. Goethe’s “Erlkönig” (The Elf King)

💫 “Hijo de la Luna” (Child of the Moon) – Summary

A woman prays to the moon for a husband. The moon agrees, but demands her firstborn as payment. She marries a man from a red-skinned tribe (likely Roma), gives birth to a pale child (not like the father) and he accuses her of betrayal. He kills her in a rage and abandons the child. The moon then adopts the baby, and every time it’s full, the child is said to be playing up there — causing the moon to shine with joy. 6)LIV MOON — The Phantom of the Opera
