Cosmic Audities: The Show Born Out of Happ-Slappy
What’s Happ-Slappy?
It’s that delirious state you tumble into after long creative sessions and collaborations — when you’re so spent, so absorbed in the same weird world with your friends, that you start laughing at absurdities, speaking half-gibberish, but somehow understanding each other perfectly. That’s Happ-Slappy.
And that’s exactly where this show was born.
The Show that Started as a Spark
This week’s Cosmic Audities holds more than novelties and sound collages — it holds a thread of memory. It was stitched together in one of those unforgettable creative sessions where ideas spilled over, laughter tangled with music, and suddenly a joke became the centerpiece.
This playlist is the result of friends deep in Happ-Slappy territory — Tea and Mickey Fingers, cracking up so hard about waffles and fish heads that the universe itself seemed to demand a soundtrack.
🧇🐟 Waffles & Fish Heads Café
From that moment came a script:
“Welcome to Waffles & Fish Heads Café — the only place in the galaxy where breakfast meets the bizarre…”
We recorded it with spacey keyboards and a hilariously bad drum machine, creating a fake radio ad for the café you’ll only find in Eclectic Wonderland. Whether it’s two waffles, three fish heads, and a side of existential dread for $3.99… or just the laughter that follows, the café has become a little cosmic landmark for us.

A Cosmic Feast
The show itself carries that same spirit: absurd, playful, cosmic. Renaldo & The Loaf, The Residents, Bruce Haack, Bran Flakes, Negativland, Barnes & Barnes, Beachfront Vinny — all the oddities you’d expect, but threaded with Gala Violet originals and inside jokes too.
The arc:
Strange beginnings → Renaldo, Residents, Bruce Haack.
Whimsy in orbit → kites, moons, new worlds.
The breakfast table of surrealism → waffles, tea, Bigfoot, Spam, and fish heads.
The Trek finale → orbiting into space with Surf Trek, Data, Space Cowgirls, and Rocket #9.
A Celebration of Collaboration
At its heart, this show isn’t just about music. It’s a celebration of the strange worlds born from collaboration, creativity, and Happ-Slappy moments with friends. It’s proof that sometimes the best ideas come when you’re too tired to speak sense, but too inspired to stop creating. Playlist

"Most people look at junk and see trash. I look at it and hear rhythm.” – Mickey Fingers
This week’s Cosmic Audities pairs perfectly with Mickey’s blog on how toy boxes, tape echoes, and kitchen drawers can become a symphony. From spoons and toy drums to balance balls and Spam containers, the heartbeat of Gala Violet began with junk percussion, music born from overlooked treasures.
And yes, that same spirit gave rise to Bigfoot & Spam, primal, playful, spooky, and silly all at once. Proof that sometimes the monsters under your bed follow you into adulthood… and if you’re lucky, you get to dance with them.
