Heaven In Retrograde

Updated: Apr 23

Heaven In Retrograde

Heaven in Retrograde is this week’s sonic spell from Eclectic Wonderland, a dreamy descent into the swirling cosmos of retro psychedelia, shoegaze shimmer, and post-punk mystique.

It all began with a listener’s text during last week’s show on the Happy Line. A simple request turned into a full-blown odyssey, beginning with Uriah Heep’s “Rainbow Demon”, dedicated to the enigmatic Residents of the Purple Corner. From there, the energy channeled itself into a transcendent mix of Bowie, Bauhaus, Björk, and beyond.

This isn’t just a playlist—it’s a whole moon ride. So lean back, tune in, and let Heaven In Retrograde guide you through retro stars and neon dreams.

Eclectic Wonderland Radio – Show Notes & Reflections

This week’s episode was born from one of those magical, serendipitous exchanges that only happen on the Happy Line (if you know, you know). A listener texted in during last week’s show with a request — a dedication to the Residents of the Purple Corner — and just like that, the seed was planted.

We opened with Rainbow Demon by Uriah Heep and spiraled into an astral mixtape of shoegaze shimmer, post-punk shadows, psychedelic swirls, and dreamy retro moods. Somewhere between stardust and distortion, a theme emerged: Heaven In Retrograde.

It’s a space where frequencies bend, where memory and imagination collapse into one dreamy timeline. Where Starmen call from the radio, Venus sings her siren song, and the Bunnymen wait beneath a killing moon. There’s beauty in the unraveling, and rhythm in the reversal.

Let this mix be your dreamy descent — a cosmic blend of vintage vibrations and celestial sonics to accompany you through the weird, the wonderful, and the slightly wobbly.

Fifth Break

We descend into darker waters to close out the journey:

  • The Chameleons – Tears (Original Arrangement) lays the emotional groundwork.

  • Dead Can Dance – The Ubiquitous Mr Lovegrove brings mysticism to the floor.

  • Sisters Of Mercy – This Corrosion rides the wave of shadow and shine.

  • Bauhaus – All We Ever Wanted Was Everything reminds us what was and could be.

  • Midge Ure – Edo provides the cinematic shift…

  • And finally, Nitzer Ebb – Join The Chant leaves us dancing with the void.
