🎃 THE PARTY AFTER EVERYONE LEFT

Velvet Umbrella Radio | After Hours

An October story told through music, shadows, and things that refuse to stay where you left them.

Everyone remembers the party.

Not everyone remembers leaving.

And nobody can explain why the music is still playing.

The invitations were delivered. The doors were opened. The house dressed itself for the occasion, and for one peculiar evening, everything seemed almost perfectly normal.

Well…

Normal for this house.

There was music. There was laughter. There were conversations that nobody quite remembers having.

And somewhere between the last dance and the final goodbye, something changed.

Perhaps it was the moment the grandfather clock stopped.

Perhaps it was the unfamiliar coat hanging beside the staircase.

Or perhaps it was that strange little feeling that someone had been counting the guests.

And hadn't quite finished.

By morning, the driveway was empty.

The decorations remained.

A few glasses stood untouched on the tables. Someone had left a chair pulled away from the dining room table.

And upstairs, behind a door nobody remembered opening, a light was still burning.

But the strangest part?

The music never stopped.

Not when the last guest departed.

Not when the front door clicked shut.

Not even when the house went dark.

It simply changed.

The melodies grew slower. The familiar songs sounded different. And somewhere beneath the music, another rhythm began to emerge.

Almost like footsteps.

Almost like breathing.

Almost like the house had been waiting for everyone to leave…

So the real party could begin.

🗝️ Welcome to The Party After Everyone Left.

An after-hours gathering from Mickey Fingers and Celeste Violet, where the music tells a story, the shadows have excellent taste, and leaving may not be quite as simple as arriving.

Pour yourself something delicious.

Find a comfortable chair.

And whatever you do…

Don't worry about the coat on the staircase.

It isn't yours.

Yet.

🖤 SCENE ONE: THE LAST GOODBYE

The last car disappeared down the driveway at 1:43.

Or perhaps that's simply when the clock stopped.

Nobody could remember.

The front door closed with a soft, satisfied click.

Inside, the house settled.

The glasses remained on the tables. A half-eaten slice of cake sat beside an abandoned napkin. Someone had left a lipstick mark on the rim of a champagne flute.

The decorations were still hanging.

The candles were still burning.

And the record player was still turning.

But nobody had remembered to put on another record.

Somewhere beyond the dining room, a floorboard creaked.

Then another.

Someone was walking through the house.

Or the house was learning how to walk.

Neither possibility was particularly comforting.

🗝️ SCENE TWO: THE UNFAMILIAR COAT

The coat hadn't been there when the party began.

Of that, someone would later be certain.

It hung beside the staircase, dark and impeccably tailored, its sleeves falling perfectly straight.

There were no shoes beneath it.

No hat on the nearby stand.

No sign that its owner had ever arrived.

A small thread hung from one cuff.

Not loose enough to be accidental.

Not long enough to reach the floor.

And when the music shifted into something slower, the thread moved.

Just once.

As though someone had given it a gentle tug.

Upstairs, a door opened.

The coat remained exactly where it was.

🕯️ SCENE THREE: THE ROOM THAT WASN'T THERE

There had always been three doors along the upstairs hallway.

Everyone knew that.

The bedroom.

The guest room.

The little room at the end where old furniture went to be forgotten.

Tonight there were four.

The fourth was painted the same color as the walls.

Its handle was cold.

From the other side came the unmistakable sound of a party.

Laughter.

Glasses clinking.

A familiar song.

But this wasn't the music playing downstairs.

It was the music from earlier.

From when the guests were still there.

From before the last goodbye.

And beneath the laughter, someone whispered:

“You're late.”

The handle began to turn.

🪞 SCENE FOUR: THE SECOND PARTY

Through the doorway, the ballroom was full.

Every guest had returned.

Every candle was burning.

Every glass was raised.

There was only one problem.

Nobody was moving.

Not the dancers.

Not the musicians.

Not even the woman standing beside the piano with her mouth open in the middle of a laugh.

They were perfectly still.

Except for one figure near the far wall.

Someone whose face couldn't quite be seen.

Someone who seemed to be watching the doorway.

The music skipped.

The figure lifted a hand.

And every head in the ballroom turned.

At exactly the same time.

🧵 SCENE FIVE: THE THREAD

By the time the hallway returned to its familiar shape, the fourth door was gone.

The music downstairs had changed again.

Something softer now.

Almost a lullaby.

On the staircase, the unfamiliar coat was missing.

In its place lay a single thread.

It stretched across the polished floorboards, disappearing beneath the front door.

Outside, the driveway was empty.

The garden was still.

But somewhere beyond the gate, a faint sound drifted through the night.

Footsteps.

Slow.

Unhurried.

Coming closer.

And then…

Three soft knocks.

Nobody answered.

The house didn't need anyone to.

It opened the door itself.

🎃 THE FINAL THREAD

Perhaps the party never really ended.

Perhaps the guests never actually left.

Or perhaps the house has simply learned how to keep the best parts of an evening forever.

A laugh.

A song.

A familiar face.

A coat waiting for its owner.

Whatever happened here, one thing seems certain.

The invitations were only the beginning.

And somewhere, someone is still counting.

One.

Four.

Three.

🗝️

The party is over.

The music is still playing.

And someone has just arrived.

🎃 BEFORE THE PARTY, THERE WAS THE HOUSE

Before everyone left, the house had already begun behaving strangely.

In Wednesday's Eclectic Wonderland: The House Has Started Decorating Itself, the decorations appeared, the invitations seemed to know where they belonged, and October arrived with a mind of its own.

Consider it the beginning of the evening.

The part where everybody still believed they were attending an ordinary party.

Step back inside Wednesday's show and see what you might have missed.

🪩 FUCK-IT, WE'RE DANCING!

Of course, not every moment in a haunted house needs to be frightening.

Sometimes the only reasonable response to a chandelier swinging by itself, a clock behaving suspiciously, and music coming from an empty room is…

FUCK IT. WE'RE DANCING!

Because if the house insists on throwing a party, we might as well enjoy ourselves.

And frankly, the ghosts have excellent taste in music.

Fuck-It, We’re Dancing 🪩🔥 |Petals & Hooks

A Mixcloud-only Petals & Hooks transmission.

We worked too hard, stayed up too late, lost all perspective, and somebody hit play. What followed was a glittery release valve of dance floor staples, pop, new wave, post-punk weirdness, cookies, questionable decisions, and whatever happens after everybody gets happ slappy.

Unfiltered, impossibly explicit in places, but probably nothing you haven’t heard before.

The music stops. The story doesn’t. If you’ve noticed something strange along the way, you’re not imagining it. Follow the thread.

🎶 THE MUSIC REMEMBERS

There are things the house doesn't tell you.

Not directly.

Sometimes they're tucked inside a melody. Sometimes they're hiding beneath a familiar lyric. Sometimes a song you've heard a hundred times suddenly sounds like it's telling you something entirely different.

That's the peculiar thing about this place.

The soundtrack always knows more than it lets on.

As you wander through the story, you'll find music players scattered between the rooms. They're not simply there to set the mood.

They're part of the experience.

Listen once for the music.

Listen again for the story.

And if something sounds strangely familiar?

Well…

Perhaps you've been here before.

🗝️ The house remembers.

🍿 ONE THING…

Before you go, you might want to visit the vending machine.

Nobody remembers installing it.

Nobody seems particularly interested in removing it.

And somehow, it always has exactly the sort of snack you didn't realize you wanted.

Just don't ask where the inventory comes from.

A familiar object.

An unexpected lyric.

Every return visit might reveal another piece of the puzzle.

And don't forget to revisit the individual music players tucked throughout the story above.

Sometimes the smallest clue is hiding in the song you almost skipped.
