Oh Shitaki!
Oh Shiitaki! | Eclectic Wonderland | Part 1 of 5
Some weeks arrive with a plan.
This one showed up wearing a mushroom hat, carrying a pineapple, and refusing to explain itself.
Oh Shiitaki! is two hours of beautifully strange radio, where electronic curiosities, exotica, oddball pop, sound collage, suspicious animals, lounge detours, dancing mushrooms, and several questionable decisions all somehow end up sharing the same room.
We wander through Kero Kero Bonito, The Residents, They Might Be Giants, Sparks, DEVO, Esquivel, Negativland, Tom Tom Club, Deee-Lite, The B-52’s, AIR, XTC, and plenty of wonderfully peculiar corners in between.
There is no grand lesson here.
No map.
No useful explanation.
Just a reminder that when the universe insists on being ridiculous, sometimes the best response is to turn the music up, laugh a little louder, and dance through the weird.
Welcome to Oh Shiitaki!
No shrimp.
Questionable decisions.
All heart.

THIS WEEK'S TRANSMISSIONS
This Week's Doors...

Mickey’s Notes
Five Doors, One Strange Little Universe
And Oh Shiitaki! is only one door.
This week, the Velvet Umbrella opened into five different directions, each with its own mood, frequency, and particular method of dealing with reality.
There is the bright, beautifully peculiar world of Eclectic Wonderland.
The darker late-night drift of After the Static.
And then, beneath the Velvet Umbrella, things split again.
One path gets louder, angrier, funnier, and completely unfiltered.
The other gets quieter.
Eight hours quieter.
Five shows.
Two stations of mind.
Several open doors.
One strange little universe.
Pick the frequency you need. Through the Other Doors…

Oh Shitaki! brought the bright, weird, electronic side of Eclectic Wonderland back into focus: dancing mushrooms, cheerful oddities, questionable decisions, and music that wandered in without an appointment.

Then After the Static moved into darker air with shoegaze, dream pop, darkwave, ambient drift, and cathedral echoes for everyone still awake.
And over at Velvet Umbrella Radio | Petals & Hooks, things got considerably less polite.

Fuck This Playlist became more
than four hours of screaming with us
into the void: loud, explicit, furious,
funny, cathartic, and completely unfiltered.
For anyone who needed the opposite
kind of release, we also opened another door.
No Exit: Corridors One & Two offers two separate four-hour journeys into ambient spaces, distant signals, liminal rooms, and slower frequencies.
Eight hours total.
One door for letting it out.
Another for letting go.
Some weeks the universe hands you mushrooms.
Some weeks it hands you static.
Some weeks it hands you a playlist to scream into.
And sometimes…
it just leaves the corridor lights on.

Doors Still Open
This week’s journey moves from indie favorites and dream pop to college radio classics, unexpected detours, electronic textures, and songs that have quietly become companions over the years. Along the way, Mickey Fingers drops in to remind us that curiosity is worth chasing, creativity has a way of rebuilding worlds, and sometimes opening just one window is enough to change the whole room.
You’ll even hear our Spandau Filet Challenge, where Tea attempts the impossible task of back-announcing over one of the most delightfully chaotic pieces of music ever assembled while Mr. Announcer Man enthusiastically “helps” by reaching for every knob within arm’s length.
Some traditions are simply too much fun to retire.
And somewhere along the way, this week became something bigger than a single show.
It became the beginning of a three-part journey.
One door opened into another, then another, each show carrying a little of what came before while changing the light around it.
That journey eventually led us to When the Tide Finally Turned, a Petals & Hooks show that arrived during one of those rare moments when everything seemed to exhale.
For a minute, anyway.
Because the week after that apparently looked at our nice peaceful exhale and said:
Fuck this.
Which is how we eventually ended up with Fuck This Playlist, more than four hours of screaming with us into the void, followed by No Exit: Corridors One & Two, eight hours of ambient rooms, distant signals, and somewhere quieter to disappear for a while.
Some of those doors already have full show notes waiting behind them.
Others are still works in progress.
Nothing has been abandoned.
We’re simply finishing the corridors in the order they decide to reveal themselves.
🌿 Part One
Eclectic Wonderland | Open Every Window

🌙 Part Two
Velvet Umbrella Radio | After HoursNight | After the Storm
Now airing Fridays from 1–3 AM,
with two full hours of dreamlike music, late-night conversations, and stories that only seem to arrive after midnight.

🌹 Part Three
Velvet Umbrella Radio | Petals & Hooks | When the Tide Finally Turned
A special Mixcloud-only transmission where the music drifts a little farther, the gardens bloom beneath the moon, and every strange little door leads somewhere worth exploring.
Together, these three shows became one story.
One long breath.
One shared journey.
So wherever you’re listening…
Whether you’re driving with the windows down…
working in the garden…
painting…
making dinner…
or simply trying to find your footing after a difficult week…
we’re grateful you chose to spend a little of your day with us.
Thank you for wandering alongside us.
Now…
open every window.
The air feels a little different today.
💕 Peace, Love & Cosmic Bunny Rabbits.

Mickey's Corner

Mickey’s Corner 🎙️✨
There are days when the universe hands you a carefully labeled map.
This was not one of those days.
We found mushrooms, monkeys, lounge music, electronic weirdness, and a pineapple incident.
Honestly, I think we handled it well.
