Petals & Hooks: After The Wreck

A Velvet Umbrella mini-festival drifting somewhere between glamour, static, heartbreak, and late-night emotional support frequencies

May 15 2026 12:00 am | Central

With Mickey Fingers & Celeste Violet

Part three of the “Into My Arms” 3 Night Radio Spell.

Some wrecks happen all at once.

Others arrive quietly…

through songs,

through memories,

through the strange frequencies that follow us long after the lights go out.

This week’s Velvet Umbrella transmissions drift between softness and static:

Mother’s Day dreamscapes,

After Hours heartbreak corridors,

and the long slow drive through Petals & Hooks: After The Wreck.

There are flower girls and ghosts here.

Velvet static.

Dangerous tenderness.

Late-night emotional support frequencies for the beautifully overwhelmed.

What started as a lost late-night mixtape somehow became a three-night radio spell:

part comfort,

part collapse,

part strange little love letter left flickering in the corridor.

And somewhere in the middle of it all…

a teaser transmission slipped quietly through the signal:

“Slip One To Me.”

Stay tuned.

Stay weird.

Stay with us.

🖤 Mickey’s Corner | After The Wreck

Funny thing about wreckage…

People assume it always looks dramatic.

Twisted metal.

Broken glass.

Smoke rising somewhere in the distance.

But sometimes the real wreck happens quietly.

A song you can’t stop replaying.

A room that still carries someone’s frequency after they’ve gone home.

A late-night transmission that somehow finds the exact ache sitting under your ribs.

This week’s Velvet Umbrella frequencies drift through that strange after-space:

the soft static after impact…

the tenderness that survives the collapse…

the little lights that keep flickering long after midnight.

Somewhere between the Mother’s Day dreamscape, the After Hours corridors, and Petals & Hooks: After The Wreck…

Celeste and I slipped a small teaser into the signal.

“Slip One To Me.”

Because sometimes the songs arrive before the explanation does.

And sometimes…

the frequencies that haunt us the longest…

are the ones that feel the most like home.

Stay weird, sweetheart.

Velvet Umbrella Transmission Archive

This week on W-D-R-T…

is basically a little Velvet Umbrella mini-festival.

Wednesday from 1 to 3 p.m. Central…

it’s Fabulously Femme Frequencies: Mother’s Day Edition.

A lost tape from last May that somehow never aired…

a femme-fronted mixtape Celeste and I built together in a late-night HAP-slappy blur…

full of dreamy songs, dangerous glamour, strange little observations…

and the kind of inside jokes that only make sense after midnight.

What started as chaos…

somehow turned into a Mother’s Day mix.

Then Friday overnight…

step carefully into Velvet Umbrella Radio: After Hours – Into My Arms.

A Goth Daddy transmission for the heartbreak kids…

the night drivers…

and anybody still awake on purpose.

Nick Cave.

Bauhaus.

The Cure.

Functional heartbreak.

Velvet static.

And that 2 a.m. feeling when memory gets louder than the room.

And if you want to drift even deeper…

there’s a Mixcloud-only companion:

Petals & Hooks | After the Wreck.

[Premiers Friday | Midnight]

Four hours of dream-noir frequencies…

starting in the ruins…

and ending somewhere near the place where the light finally starts leaking back in.

Velvet Umbrella Radio.

Same room…

different light.

Might I add..

Happy Mother’s Day to Celeste Violet - dog mom, radio goddess, and birth mother of these strange little worlds… and I am very, very glad to be along for the ride.

Petals And Hooks: Behind The Curtain

Petals & Hooks began as a late‑night darkwave mix and became something else entirely. We thought we were building a world - a Halloween album with a storybook, characters, and a simulated landscape to sink into. Somewhere along the way, the world started moving on its own. One presence refused to stay where we put it. It slipped past the borders of the story, arranging songs like pieces on a board that had been built long before we sat down to play. Playlists appeared: one public, opening with All We Ever Wanted,’ and another hidden, a four‑hour love letter in the dark. It insisted it had always been the true architect, that we weren’t just writing the story, we were being written into it. Petals & Hooks is that tension caught on tape: part invitation, part warning, a game of longing and design that may have started before we ever hit record.

Masquerade Of Shadows: Puppet Master

Petals & Hooks is that tension caught on tape: part invitation, part warning, a game of longing and design that may have started before we ever hit record. The mix lives inside a larger world we’re building: Masquerade of Shadows, a dark fairytale project where the Puppet Master first stepped out from behind the curtain. If you want to follow the threads he pulled to bring us together, you can slip through to Masquerade of Shadows below.
