Art pop is a loosely defined style of pop music influenced by art theories and ideas from other art mediums, such as fashion, fine art, cinema, and avant-garde literature. While many examples of the genre may also be considered 'experimental pop' or 'avant-garde pop,' the music need not be challenging or inaccessible. Art pop's primary distinction from Art Rock is its departure from Rock idioms and its instrumental palette. Artists may instead draw on elements associated with Electronic, Experimental, or Western Classical Music in addition to traditional or non-Western sources.
Art pop parent genre is Pop music, with Cultural origins in the Mid-1960s in the United Kingdom and the United States
Some Popular Derivative are Glam rock, post-punk, synth-pop, vaporwave;
Last week's show was a blend of art pop and some of the synth-pop and post-punk that has been influenced by it. Those bands influenced other bands, genres, and so on. This week's show will look at the “And So On…”
