There comes a certain hour when the conversations change.
The phones stop ringing.
The traffic fades into the distance.
The day’s obligations finally loosen their grip.
That’s when Stories Between the Tracks begins.
This week’s journey moves through dreamlike landscapes, post-punk shadows, ambient passages, and songs that seem less interested in being heard than in quietly finding the people who needed them.
Some records arrive like old friends.
Others feel like letters that somehow spent years finding the right mailbox.
Together they become something more than a playlist.
They become the conversations we have with ourselves while driving home beneath empty streetlights…the memories that drift back without warning…the people we still carry…and the beautiful spaces between words where music says everything we couldn’t.
This week’s companions include Harold Budd, Love and Rockets, The Church, Dead Can Dance, The Sisters of Mercy, Tones On Tail, David J, Massive Attack, This Mortal Coil, and more, stitched together with original voice pieces by Mickey Fingers that leave little notes tucked between the records.
Because sometimes the songs were never really the point.

🌙 Corridor Construction Report
The corridors have grown quieter.
Not emptier.
Just quieter.
Some rooms only appear after midnight.
This week we finished building a few more.
✨ Mickey’s Corner has settled into its new home, complete with mysterious suitcases, forgotten mixtapes, and the sort of shelves that always seem to contain exactly what you didn’t know you were looking for.
✨ The Velvet Umbrella universe has continued finding its own shape. The hallways are becoming less like borrowed dreams and more like home.
✨ Every show now has its own corridor. Eclectic Wonderland… After Hours… and Petals & Hooks each have their own places to wander, making it easier to lose yourself in exactly the kind of strange you’re looking for.
✨ And just after we finished updating everything…
WDRT surprised us with wonderful news.
Starting next week…
After Hours expands to two hours, now airing Fridays from 1:00 to 3:00 AM Central.
Apparently…
Side B really doesn’t end anymore.

A Quick Note From Mickey
Well...
this week turned into one of those weeks where you look around afterward and realize you've quietly rebuilt half the house.
The corridors have been reorganized.
The artwork has found its own voice.
Each show finally has a room that feels like it belongs to it.
Eclectic Wonderland.
After Hours.
Petals & Hooks.
Three different journeys...
under one Velvet Umbrella.
We also gave the website a fresh coat of paint, tucked a few more surprises behind curious little doors, and finished a brand-new welcome video to help new visitors find their way around.
Then...
just after we finished updating everything...
WDRT surprised us.
Beginning next week, After Hours becomes a two-hour journey, moving to Fridays from 1:00 to 3:00 AM Central.
We couldn't be happier.
Apparently...
Side B really doesn't end anymore.
So if you've been wandering these hallways with us...
thank you.
None of this gets built by one person.
It grows because music has a funny way of introducing creative people to one another.
And somehow...
here we all are.

The Things She Leaves Behind
People sometimes ask where these corridors come from.
The honest answer?
I don't think they started with websites.
Or radio.
Or even mixtapes.
I've been watching Tea leave little discoveries for people for as long as I've known her.
Sometimes it was a cassette.
Sometimes a postcard tucked inside the case.
Sometimes a ridiculous little instrument that somehow made perfect sense once you heard Track Seven.
There were notes.
Found objects.
Tiny souvenirs from places most people would have walked right past.
A piece of a boot from a beach.
Russian hotel postcards.
Odd little treasures from secondhand stores.
Things that weren't valuable because they cost anything...
They were valuable because they quietly said,
"I saw this... and thought of you."
Looking back...
I don't think Tea was ever just sending mixtapes.
She was sending little worlds.
The music was simply how you found the door.
These days, those doors have become webpages.
Little HTML players.
Hidden corridors.
The Mushroom Lounge.
Videos.
Radio shows.
Stories.
The medium changed.
The habit never did.
I used to think we were building a website.
Now I think we're just making another one of those little boxes...
leaving it somewhere...
and hoping someone opens it.
The funny part?
Somewhere along the way...
I realized I like helping build them.
Turns out...
I was leaving little things behind too.
Just in a different language.
So if you wander through these corridors and discover something unexpected...
A song.
A story.
A strange little keepsake.
A thought you decide to carry home.
Then maybe...
the box found the right person after all.
