The Music From Another Planet
This week’s playlist is inspired by "The Music From Another Planet," a sound collage by The Bran Flakes. Today’s show is a bit sound collage-heavy, with a quirky splash of random robots thrown into the mix. Originally, I had a different show planned, but after juggling classes, goals, and deadlines (plus some steep learning curves), I found myself turning to a previously imagined playlist—one I've been wanting to explore more.
The concept? If aliens had a message for us, what would it be? How would they communicate? Would it be a message of love, or something weird and cryptic? Maybe even a warning? Who’s the bigger threat to humanity—robots or humans themselves? And what about Yeti and the gnomes?
I know it’s all a bit abstract, but that’s what Audities is all about: experimental, novelty music, sound collages, and the bizarre—all rolled into one mind-bending, 1 hour and 55-minute playlist.
Personally, I’m a fan of the robots. They can vacuum your house and make life easier! I don’t see AI as a threat, but I still make sure to be extra nice to Siri, Alexa, and the chatbots (you know, just in case). In the end, I think it’s all about the intent of the human behind the machine. Greed and hate? Those are the real dangers.
Ultimately, it’s about Peace, Love, and cosmic bunnies (yes, warm fuzzies included).
Today’s show features music by The Bran Flakes, Negativland, People Like Us, Renaldo & The Loaf, Snakefinger, Vangelis, Frank Zappa, and MORE!
