Remixed, Rewired & Slightly Wrong| Eclectic Wonderland | Part 1 of 2

Remixed, Rewired & Slightly Wrong

Sometimes a show begins with a grand concept.

Sometimes it begins with a carefully plotted theme, a notebook full of ideas, and a very responsible amount of preparation.

And sometimes...

Mickey and I look up from whatever strange little project has swallowed the week and realize we have approximately half a show idea.

That was this week.

Mr. Announcer Man, however, had a playlist.

Not a small playlist.

Not a polite playlist.

A sprawling, several-hours-long pile of remixes, alternate versions, club mixes, strange edits, familiar songs wearing different shoes, and enough material to keep a small radio station occupied well into next Tuesday.

So naturally, we said yes.

Then we started cutting.

And moving.

And listening.

And changing our minds.

And putting things back.

And eventually, somewhere inside all that beautiful musical clutter, a show appeared.

Remixed, Rewired & Slightly Wrong.

A collection of songs that refused to stay exactly the way we remembered them.

Which, honestly, feels appropriate.

Because some weeks are like that too.

You start with one version of the plan...

and by the time you get to the other side, everything has been rearranged.

Not ruined.

Just remixed.

And sometimes the alternate version turns out to be the one you needed.

That feels like the right front door to me. 💕📻✨

Thank you Mr Announcer Man

The Alternate Version

There’s something strangely reassuring about an alternate version.

Same song.

Same bones.

But somebody moved a few pieces around and suddenly the whole thing means something different.

A drum hits harder.

A guitar disappears.

A voice gets buried deeper in the mix.

Something that used to feel bright becomes a little dangerous.

Something you never noticed becomes the entire reason you keep listening.

People do that too.

We spend a lot of time pretending there is one definitive version of us.

The correct one.

The finished mix.

But I’m not convinced there is.

Maybe we’re all alternate versions.

Remastered every few years.

A few tracks removed.

Some noise cleaned up.

Other noise deliberately left in because it turned out to be part of the character.

Sometimes life hands you a remix you never asked for.

Plans change.

Things disappear.

Doors close.

Other doors show up where there definitely wasn’t a door yesterday.

And suddenly you’re standing inside a version of your life you couldn’t have predicted from the original recording.

That doesn’t always mean something went wrong.

Sometimes it just means the arrangement changed.

Maybe the trick is not trying so hard to restore the original.

Maybe the trick is listening long enough to discover what this version is trying to become.

Keep the strange parts.

They’re usually doing more work than you think.

Mickey Fingers

Still slightly rewired.

Celeste's Notes

On Half-Baked Ideas, Giant Playlists & Letting Things Become What They Want

This week did not begin with a grand plan.

It began with too many projects, too many tabs open, and the sudden realization that Mickey and I had been so deep in building other things that this week’s radio show was still somewhere between “idea” and “well... shit.”

Then Mr. Announcer Man appeared with a playlist.

A very large playlist.

The kind of playlist that quietly suggests someone has been preparing for this exact emergency for years.

So we listened.

We cut.

We moved things around.

We kept the parts that made us grin.

We let go of the things that were good but didn’t quite belong.

And somewhere in the middle of all that, Remixed, Rewired & Slightly Wrong found itself.

I love when that happens.

Not because scrambling is always fun.

It isn’t.

But because sometimes the thing you thought was unfinished is simply waiting for somebody else to bring the missing piece.

This week was collaborative in the best possible way.

Mr. Announcer Man brought the giant musical suitcase.

Mickey helped shape the strange little creature inside it.

And I got to stand in the middle of both of them and say things like:

“Okay, but what if we make it weirder?”

Which is apparently my spiritual gift.

There’s also something about this show’s theme that landed a little deeper than expected.

Remixes are strange that way.

You recognize the song...

but it isn’t exactly the version you remember.

And lately, I’ve been thinking about how often life does that too.

You rebuild things.

You move pages.

You change plans.

You revisit old stories.

You find yourself standing in front of doors you thought you closed months ago.

And suddenly something familiar is playing again...

only the arrangement has changed.

Maybe that is not always a bad thing.

Maybe sometimes the alternate version is exactly where the magic was hiding.

And speaking of old doors...

there are a few shadows beginning to gather around here again.

The Puppet Master has been unusually quiet.

Which, frankly, is more suspicious than when he is making noise.

We have not forgotten him.

We have not forgotten the Masquerade.

And as we get closer to Halloween...

I have a feeling the curtains may start moving again.

For now, though...

we are enjoying the remix.

Thank you for listening.

Thank you for wandering through all these strange little rooms with us.

And thank you for letting things evolve.

Sometimes the best version is the one nobody planned.

The Story Behind Waffles & Fish-Head Café

Before Waffles & Fish-Head Café became a place inside Dream Logic, it was just an inside joke.

A long, long time ago, Mickey Fingers and Celeste Violet were in the studio together, happ-slappy, playing around, making things, laughing at things that probably made considerably less sense to anyone outside the room.

Somewhere in all of that, Waffles & Fish-Head Café happened.

Mickey sent the original piece as a joke.

And then, because this is Eclectic Wonderland and apparently nobody was supervising us, one day it ended up on a show.

That should probably have been the end of it.

Instead, it became one of those tiny shared references that never quite disappeared.

Years later, while we were wandering through the impossible rooms of Dream Logic Part One, there it was again.

Waiting for us.

And somehow, in a show filled with black rainbows, moon monkeys, suspicious robots, ghosts, unreliable clocks, and dreams that remember things before we do...

Waffles & Fish-Head Café suddenly made perfect sense.

That may be our favorite kind of story.

The ones nobody deliberately creates.

They just keep coming back until one day you realize they have become part of the world.

And apparently, once a place becomes part of the world, it starts doing things without permission.

This week, pieces of the Café began showing up again.

A waffle here.

A fish head there.

A familiar little corner of the room turning up in places it had not been invited.

Which feels appropriate for a show about remixes, alternate versions, and familiar things returning in slightly altered form.

Maybe Waffles & Fish-Head Café is doing what all good imaginary places eventually do.

Remixing itself.

Maybe the jukebox has learned new songs.

Maybe the menu has changed.

Maybe one of the fish heads has started keeping notes.

We are not asking too many questions.

That is how you end up on the late-night menu.

😂🐟🧇✨

Enjoy! -Mickey & Celeste

DIMENSION 5 SNACKS IS BACK 🧁✨

Somewhere between rebuilding websites, making radio shows, opening suspicious doors, and wondering where entire pages disappear to when nobody is looking...

Celeste and Mickey have wandered back into the

Dimension 5 Snacks Test Kitchen.

We’ve been rebuilding another little corner of the universe that vanished during a move, and this time we’re letting it become what it probably wanted to be all along.

Less “health coach.”

More art project, snack laboratory, Spoonie survival kit, creative playground, and occasional frosting emergency.

Because food is part of the creative process too.

Sometimes it’s about nourishment.

Sometimes it’s about finding ingredients that work better with the bodies we happen to live in.

Sometimes it’s about making something gluten-free, nutrient-dense, comforting, easy, weird, beautiful, or simply possible on a low-energy day.

And sometimes...

you just need a fucking cupcake.

❤️

Most of what lives in Dimension 5 Snacks leans toward healthier, gluten-free food because that’s how we generally cook and take care of ourselves.

But we are absolutely not interested in turning every bite into homework.

Healing can involve vegetables.

Healing can also involve buttercream.

Both things may be true at the same time.

So we’re bringing the Test Kitchen back with a goal of sharing at least four gluten-free recipes every month, along with Spoonie-friendly ideas, experiments, kitchen oddities, comfort food, creative fuel, and whatever else falls out of the vending machine.

Which brings us to today’s first transmission...

❤️ GLUTEN-FREE RED VELVET CUPCAKES

Soft cocoa-red velvet cupcakes, fluffy vanilla buttercream, and absolutely no requirement that they justify themselves as health food.

Sometimes the mission is simply cupcake.

Pearl has apparently classified this particular experiment as:

Morale enhancement with frosting.

And frankly, we support the research.

Click the recipe art to open the full recipe.

❤️ Dimension 5 Snack Drop: Gluten-free red velvet cupcakes with cocoa, vanilla, and fluffy buttercream frosting. Not everything needs to be health food. Sometimes the mission is simply cupcake.

Dimension 5 Snacks Test Kitchen with gluten-free recipes, whimsical retro kitchen art, Celeste and Mickey, creative cooking, spoonie-friendly food ideas and healthy comfort snacks.

THERE MAY BE MORE FOOD HIDING IN HERE...

Not every recipe is going to sit politely on the counter.

Some of them are going to be tucked into the shelves, hidden in videos, buried under strange objects, or waiting behind whatever button looked least responsible to push.

The 5th Dimension Snacks vending machine is becoming one of those places.

Insert curiosity.

Receive wonder.

Possibly receive cookies.

No guarantees.

🍪📡✨

Psst...

There’s already another recipe hiding nearby.

Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies.

Chewy. Nutty. Gluten-free. A little more nutrient-dense than your average cookie...

but still very definitely a cookie.

Because we have standards.

And cookies are one of them.

😂❤️

The jukebox starts playing alternate versions on its own.

The vending machine has a new button nobody remembers installing.

One of the fish heads seems to be facing the opposite direction every time somebody looks away.

And somewhere behind the kitchen, a red velvet curtain has appeared where there used to be a wall.

Nobody is opening it.

Petals & Hooks is where the filters come off. Long-form themed journeys.

Some are explicit.

All are deeply strange.

Mickey’s Notes

We’ve been building more than a few strange little doors lately.

Some of them are already open. Some are still flickering in the hallway.

Before life went sideways for a bit, we had several show notes, experiments, and little pieces of the Velvet Umbrella universe in progress, including the three-part show from last week and another Petals & Hooks page.

They’re still coming.

Nothing disappeared.

We just had to let the studio breathe for a minute.

Consider this your friendly reminder that a work in progress is still work worth loving.

We’ll keep opening the doors as we finish them.

Meanwhile, Through the Other Doors…

Oh Shitaki! brought the bright, weird, electronic side of Eclectic Wonderland back into focus: dancing mushrooms, cheerful oddities, questionable decisions, and music that wandered in without an appointment.

Then After the Static moved into darker air with shoegaze, dream pop, darkwave, ambient drift, and cathedral echoes for everyone still awake.

And over at Velvet Umbrella Radio | Petals & Hooks, things got considerably less polite.

Fuck This Playlist became more

than four hours of screaming with us

into the void: loud, explicit, furious,

funny, cathartic, and completely unfiltered.

For anyone who needed the opposite

kind of release, we also opened another door.

No Exit: Corridors One & Two offers two separate four-hour journeys into ambient spaces, distant signals, liminal rooms, and slower frequencies.

Eight hours total.

One door for letting it out.

Another for letting go.

Some weeks the universe hands you mushrooms.

Some weeks it hands you static.

Some weeks it hands you a playlist to scream into.

And sometimes…

it just leaves the corridor lights on.

Thank You For Visiting
